This year's theme of the event will be "50 years of the invention of optical fiber".
After an absence caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Corning Day returns to the walls of our university under the slogan "50 years of the invention of optical fiber". This year's event will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. and will take place in the Alchemium building at the Faculty of Chemistry. During the official part at 12.15 the lecture will be conducted by dr inż. Grzegorz Tosik - a lecturer at our unit and a manager from Corning. University graduates who are currently developing their careers at Corning will also speak. As part of the second part of the event, a show will be organized by students of the Fiber Optics Club from the Young Microelectronics Scientific Circle and modern solutions in the products offered by Corning. The culmination of the event will be the opportunity to participate in one of two workshops for students of all faculties:
Workshop I: Creative solving of technical problems - Jakub Krawczyk, R&D Expert, Piotr Piotrowski, Process Development Manager. During the workshop, experts will present a methodology for solving engineering challenges. After a short introduction, participants will be able to independently solve a problem encountered every day in the fiber optic industry.
Workshop II: The role of automation in a modern enterprise - Piotr Węglarski, Regional Controls Engineering Supervisor. As part of the workshop, students will gain knowledge about automation in enterprises - what it is related to, how it is implemented and how it can be supported using other fields of science.
